New Yoga Wellness Centre opens in Ulaanbaatar

An opening ceremony was held on October 12th for Ananda Yoga Wellness Centre. Representatives from the city health department and the director of The Mongolian College of Alternative Medicine attended the ceremony.

Ananda Yoga Wellness Centre The Centre was initiated by AMURT Mongolia , a service organisation, to benefit everyone, regardless of their economic capacity. As the first wellness centre in Mongolia, it’s aim is to provide affordable health care and to reduce lifestyle related illnesses amongst the residents of Ulaanbaatar.
The centre will offer:
Yoga & meditation classes
Yoga therapy
Acupuncture
Massage therapy
Traditional Mongolian medicines
A medical clinic

While recognising that prevention is the best medicine, the centre will endeavour to promote alternative medicine and healthy living through yoga, meditation and nutrition etc.  However, it will also provide clinical facilities for those who are in need of treatment.  

Almost 300,000 of Ulaanbaatar's residents live in sprawling shantytowns known as the "Ger districts", named after Mongolia's traditional round felt tent. These shantytowns are a maze of tents and shacks which do not have central heating, running water or basic hygiene facilities.
